Frequently Asked Questions

  • The absolute best time to plant anything is during the dormant season.  This is typically November thru February in the southeast. Planting of Bare root trees is best done December thru February. Planting of container plants can start as early as November. But keep in mind that the earlier in the dormant season that you plant the better your survival will be.
  • Pears- 4-6 years
  • Apples & Crabapples – on standard rootstock – 4-5 years
  • Japanese Persimmon – 3-5 years
  • Chestnuts – 4-6 years
  • Sequin & Chinquapins – 3-5 years
  • Plums 3-5 years
  • Oak Trees oak  Sawtooths, Live oaks, Dwarf Chinkapin, Chinkapin tend to produce within 5-8 years some quicker.
  • Most native oaks could take anywhere from 8-20 years mostly depending on care and proper planting site. Personally, most oaks that I have planted are producing within the 8-10 year time frame and some sooner.
  • YES! I will not plant without them. To me it is such a waste of time to go through all the trouble of planting and not protect your trees. The Deer will eat them, the rabbits & field mice will girdle them. The tubes make them visual so that you or your buddied don’t mow them, they increase growth rates. Please use them you will be much happier in the end
  • We ship all bare root plants via UPS. They are dipped in a mixture of Moisture Mizer and a root growth stimulate. Then wrapped in plastic and placed in a wax lined box. Cost on this typically depends on box size and that depends on what you order. But general shipping runs from $45.00 minimum / up to $150.00 for multiple boxes again it depends on what and how much you have ordered.
  • Container plants are shipped freight line only. We do have a minimum which is one pallet full. For 7 gallon trees that is a minimum of 12 trees and a max of 18 to 20 per pallet. This typically will run in the southeast around $150/$250.00 depending upon your location, business addresses is cheaper.
